Bloody engine control units...

My Skoda VRS decided to have a nervous breakdown today. Its EMU decided my exhaust was blocked with soot (turbo diesel) and then the symbol for the heater coils decided to start flashing. The speed plummeted from 70 mph to 40 mph with no chance of acceleration, causing fun and frolics on the M1 near Nottingham. The flashing heater symbol seems to mean the EMU is ‘defective’, with WARNING! VISIT GARAGE, added for extra joy. I called the local garage back near to home and made a rough appointment to be with them later in the day. Well, that never happened as commissioning took forever, fixing snags took time but was done to the customer’s complete satisfaction. By the time I’d done it was nearly 1800 hours and I had 2 hours of crawling home at 40 mph... :-(

For reasons unknown, the fault had removed itself and I was able to howl home at high speed... unfortunately I had a TC to post back the owner and I never got near to a post office!

Tomorrow it will be...
